Upcoming Wānanga
Policy and Legislation focused Kura Taiao; Hāpu and Māori landowners focus
We are offering a ‘kura taiao’ style wānanga for whānau, hapū and iwi practitioners to deepen their knowledge specifically in environmental legislation and policy. We will be bringing in experienced and trusted practitioners to share their kōrero on key areas including, the current system, potential reforms and impacts, fast track legislation, policy writing, taiao strategies for land blocks, Te Mana o te Wai and influencing plans. This hui will be held in Turangi at Hirangi Marae on the 29th and 30th of July 2025. This will be an intense practical experience to support taiao practitioners to better understand, influence and change existing legislation and policy.
There is a cost to attend and we have been able to partly subsidise this. The subsidised cost is $800.00 per person (plus GST) and covers accommodation at the marae and kai.
Policy and Legislation focused Workshop; for local & central government staff and industry participants
We are offering a workshop for participants in the resource management system who wish to understand tools and approaches to better give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, to consider examples of system change to better embed Te Ao Māori in the resource management system and create long term solutions to ‘wicked’ environmental problems facing our communities.
We will be bringing in experienced and trusted practitioners to share their kōrero on key areas from a Te Ao Māori perspective including, the current system, potential reforms and impacts, fast-track legislation, policy writing, system change approaches, tools to better support iwi and hapu partnerships, better understanding Te Tiriti and settlements, hapū and iwi experiences of freshwater rights and engaging as developers with hapū and iwi and what are some key principles of good partnership.
This hui will be held in Turangi at Hirangi Marae on the 5th and 6th of August 2025. This will be an opportunity to add to the PD outcomes of key staff in all environmentally focused entities.
The cost for this two-day workshop is $2,000.00 per person (plus GST) and covers accommodation at the marae and kai.
We are happy to create a regional approach to these workshops if numbers allow, please feel free to enquire about holding these in your rohe if that is preferred.
